ebay_brains_for_sale_belie_public_relations and_thinking_day_validityUpdated: Now with the original auction listing photos. See below.

It’s impossible to let this go by without some sarcastic mention. Once again, ebay reality surpasses the Twilight Zone.

It seems that ebay’s purported thousands of staff policing the site and use of the latest technology didn’t catch it. The sale was successful. The buyer, who reportedly likes to collect ‘odd’ things,  paid for and received his precious brains.

Here’s an ended ebaY listing very likely to be one of the brains sold. Click the thumbnail for a larger view in new tab or window.

The only zombies or truly brain-dead  involved seem to be … (more…)

Too late the hero. Lithium time space fail comedy! Call Girls available/optionalI’m not sure whether this might have anything to do with a tear in the time-space continuum? (perhaps caused by Paypal’s Intergalactic Space payments publicity stunt? [a symptom of corporate demise, stage iv])

Or perhaps spaced-out personnel? Or just plain old lack of [purported] expertise in their field? But we sure can’t let this go by without  criticism.

ebay_fail: the new ebay

It seems that ebaY’s crack IT team may have borked something during the normal scheduled maintenance.

Reports of an outage are all over the place, like…

Heads up!

It seems that the ebaY community forums are under a spam attack, and their new forum moderation / social media service Lithium is asleep at the wheel! Same ol’ same ol! Who could imagine?

Here’s a look at the …

Even while ebaY’s crew of corporate goons attempt to control, divert, steer, suppress or otherwise impede the discussion (or noise as it were), there are qualities about the feedback and DSR policies which are so obvious it seems to have escaped everyone’s attention since day one.

Feedback (1) Information about reactions to a product, a person's performance of a task, etc., used as a basis for improvement. (2) The modification or control of a process or system by its results or effects, e.g., in a biochemical pathway or behavioral response. In the real world, feedback is not a silly site feature or feelgood apparatus. Rather, it is an integral and necessary part of systems and devices. Things that work.

This simplified block diagram illustrates … (more…)

We can’t let this get by without poking a little fun.

As I searched to see whether any accounts were getting hijacked I saw this ebaY customer support ad.

The listing for Pope Benedict’s XVI Volkswagen Golf aka the Popemobile, a car which once belonged to Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, (now Pope Benedict XVI),   went unsold on ebay.uk when it failed to meet the reserve price.

Pope Benedict XVI Volkswagen Golf completed unsold

The charity listing, to benefit Habitat for Humanity, ended with 12 private bidders (perhaps apostles of ebaY, Paypal, the casino or church?) boosting the bid to only £7,300.00 or around 9,494.90 USD.

That’s quite a ways from the €188,938.88 (around $250,000 USD) which online casino GoldenPalace.com appears to have paid for it.

I think that was the same outfit famous for the Beavis on Toast, err… no wait maybe that was Jesus on toast auction? It’s easy to get them mixed up, especially in the context of ebay PR stunts.

I’m not sure why but these sorts of things always evoke an indescribable mood or state of mind with me. (between the laughter) I was instantly reminded of some song lyrics.  Sing it with me people, with four part harmony, and feeling…

…I went down to the sacred store
Where I’d heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn’t play
And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most-
the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost-
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singing…

As (self proclaimed) Grand High Epopt of the ebaY Boycott, I declare ebaY dead.

If only you knew what I know…
